Radiographic images are integral assessment tools when planning comprehensive care for a patient. Radiographs provide the clinician with important diagnostic tools that are used to detect lesions, diseases, conditions of teeth and supporting structures, to localize foreign objects, to assess growth and development and to document changes over time. The American Dental Association (ADA) and the FDA recommend that clinicians perform dental X-ray examinations, including dental CBCT, only when necessary for the diagnosis or treatment of disease. Newly updated for 2018, our Radiography Review for Dental assistants (including certificate renewal for Ohio) and other dental professionals provides a comprehensive review.
