Course Description

Our Human Trafficking for Dental Teams online CE course equips dentists, hygienists, assistants, and front office staff to recognize and respond to signs of human trafficking in the dental setting. Students will learn what human trafficking is, common red flags in patients’ appearance, behavior, and history and practical strategies for identification, assessment, documentation and safe reporting. The course also includes Florida reporting requirements and related information to help dental practices protect vulnerable patients and support community safety.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will:

1. Discuss trends in human trafficking, and oral health professionals' role in identifying, treating, and helping victims.
2. Explain the types of individuals that human traffickers target, and the tactics for manipulating victims.
3. Describe common oral injuries that trafficking victims present with, and reasons why victims underreport abuse.
4. Understand best ways to document trauma or injuries.
5. Know how to access law enforcement and reporting resources.
